What we collect, and what we don't
The short version: we collect only what we need to scan your site and answer you. We don't run ads or tracking scripts, we don't set cookies, and we never sell or rent your information.
When you scan a website
Our scanner visits the address you enter the way a browser would, reads the public page, and tests it for accessibility problems. It doesn't log in or fill in forms. Results are shown to you and not saved, unless you click "Share this report".
If you share a report, we store it so the link works and so anyone with the link can check that it hasn't been changed. Anyone who has the link can see it, so only share it with people you choose.
Letter Response Kits
When you run a kit, we store the scan results for your site's pages, plus what you typed on the kit form: business name, state, whether you received a letter or lawsuit, and the date. That record is your dated evidence log, so we keep it until you ask us to delete it. Deleting it means its links and verification stop working.
For pages with images that have no description, we send the image addresses (not your pages or your customers' data) to Anthropic's Claude AI to draft suggested alt text.
When you buy a kit
We keep an order record with your email, the website you entered, the amount, your kit code, and whether it was refunded. We use your email to send your kit code and to answer you. We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require us to keep sales records.
Forms you fill in
The waitlist and the attorney listing form send us what you type: usually your name, email, website, and anything you add in the notes. If you arrived from a link with a campaign tag (like a newsletter link), we note that tag so we know which links work. We use this to reply to you and, for the waitlist, to email you once when your plan opens. Nothing else.
The support chat
The chat is answered by Anthropic's Claude AI, using only information from this website. Your messages are sent to Anthropic to generate each answer. We save conversations, without your IP address, so we can see which questions come up and improve our answers. Please don't type sensitive personal information, case numbers or passwords into the chat.
While your browser tab is open, the conversation is kept in that tab so it survives moving between pages. Closing the tab clears it from your browser.
Emails
If you email us, your message and our replies are stored in our email account, which is run by Google.
Who else handles your information
- Vercel hosts the website and stores the reports, kits, form entries and chats listed above. Like any web host, it keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a short time.
- Anthropic processes chat messages and image addresses for alt text. Under its commercial terms, it doesn't use this data to train its models.
- Google runs our email. Our fonts also load from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when you visit.
- Cloudflare manages our domain and forwards email sent to our addresses.
- Stripe processes payments for the Letter Response Kit on its own secure page. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe tells us your email, the website you entered and that the payment went through.
Our lawsuit reports use public court records from CourtListener. We don't send them any information about you.
How long we keep things
- Scan results you don't share: not kept.
- Shared reports and Letter Response Kits: until you ask us to delete them.
- Chat conversations: 12 months.
- Form entries and emails: until you ask us to delete them, or two years after we last heard from you.
Your choices
Email support@dueeffort.com to get a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We'll do it within 30 days. You can leave the waitlist at any time by replying to any email from us.
We don't sell or share personal information for advertising, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date below. If the change is significant, we'll email people on our lists first.
